The Pied Piper Theme – Video

Music Videos

This catchy music was created for the Openwide Theatre Company performances of The Pied Piper, for when the children are piped away from Hamelin. All music was played on a keyboard by Andi Clark, and was recorded in 1998 by Kevin De Las Casas, in his studio.

As The Piper, I had to know this tune well enough to be able to mime the playing of the flute to the soundtrack, and I never got tired of hearing it. Andi often tells me how when he saw the show, he had to keep reminding himself that I wasn’t actually playing it live!

This video was created as a tribute to the amazing musical talents of Andi, but also as a celebration of the creative talent of all the people – who collaborated with the Openwide Theatre Company up until 2009, on creating seven touring productions, and for hundreds of performances in Theatres, Schools, Libraries, Community Centres, National Trust properties and Parks in England, Scotland, Wales and Jersey – that I had the privilege to work with!

The photo’s were taken by Anne Koenig at an outdoor performance at the Telegraph Hill Park, London SE14, in the Summer of 2006, and I think she managed to capture some lovely moments and some great expressions, so I thought they would go very well with the soundtrack. I hope you enjoy the results as much as I did while using the kdenlive video editor to create it – which took a week of burning the midnight oil!
